Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday said he is contemplating to hold interactions with people from different parts of the state through video conferencing to understand their problems.

Currently, every Wednesday Saha speaks with people in Agartala during the weekly public interaction programme ‘Mukhyamantri Samipeshu’. The event started on April 12 last year.

“People from every part of the state come to Agartala every Wednesday morning at 11 am. So, I have been contemplating talking to them through video conferencing,” Saha told the media.

Saha added, “People living in the sub-divisions or district levels, who find it difficult to come to Agartala, can interact with me and place their problems before me through video conferencing.”

Saha further said that people come to him with their problems and seek his help on various issues, especially medical treatment and financial problems among others. After listening to their problems, Saha directs officials of the departments concerned to adopt the required steps.

A direct interaction of the chief minister with the people of the state started in Tripura in 2018 after the BJP came to power here for the first time and Biplab Kumar Deb assumed the CM’s chair. The programme was called ‘Janatar Durbar’ where Deb met people once a week and tried to resolve their issues.

Later, the meetings were discontinued and the CM started physically visiting distant areas, where he interacted with people and tried to resolve their problems.
